Dulles Youth Sports Track and Field
Spring 2019

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN FOR ALL PROGRAMS

  • JUNIOR TRACK - GRADES 1 to 3
    Practice will be Tuesday at an area middle school from 6 - 7 PM
     
  • TRACK AND FIELD - GRADES 4 to 8
    Practices will be Tuesday from approximately 7 - 8 pm for all grades at an area middle school. Thursday practice will be from 6 - 7 pm for elementary ages and 7 - 8 pm for middle schoolers, also at an area middle school.  


All dates and times above are pending final Loudoun PRCS approval

 

 

 

Our goal is to offer two options for participants:

Junior Track

A program geared for younger runners for grades 1st to 3rd. Runners will attend one practice a week and the focus will be on running, sprinting, and relays. An introduction to jumping will also be included. Field events and hurdles will not be a focus. Junior Track will meet once a week with instruction provided by TrueAP. Please email if you are interested in volunteering.


Track and Field

The Track and Field program will be for grades 4 to 8. The Track and Field program from Dulles Youth Sports will be held (pending final Loudoun PRCS) approval from 4/2/19 – 6/7/19 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 pm at an area middle school like Lunsford. We will provide weekly focus areas where we spend a portion of the practice introducing athletes to each event. 

  • Short distances - 50, 100, 200, and 400 meters
  • Middle distances - 800, 1500 meters
  • Long distance - 3000 meters
  • Relays - 4x100, 4x400
  • Hurdles - 100, 400 meters
  • Jumps - Introduction to long jump and high jump
  • Field events - Introduction to shotput, discus, javelin

All track and field participants will participate in two regional competitive meets. Full details on meets and practices will be communicated directly to the team rather than posted to the web site.

We need volunteers! No experience is necessary. Please email if you are interested. Volunteering can be as simple as helping with practice or the meets. If you have any experience with track and field, consider volunteering as a coach! It is a great way to get in shape and participate in the community.
